What is SSO?
Single Sign-On (SSO) allows your employees to access multiple applications, including our app, using one set of login credentials. This means they won't need to remember separate usernames and passwords for each app, making it easier and more secure for everyone. Additionally, with directory syncing, any updates to employee information in your system will automatically be reflected in our app, ensuring everything is always up-to-date.
Key Terms:
- SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language): A standard for SSO that exchanges authentication data between your Identity Provider (IdP) and our app.
- SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management): A protocol for managing user identities in our app automatically, ensuring that user information is synchronized with your systems.
How Does It Work?
- Your Identity Provider (IdP): This is the system your organization uses to manage employee identities (e.g., Okta, Azure AD).
- Our App: Once connected to your IdP, it will recognize your employees based on the credentials stored in the IdP.
Steps to Implement SSO:
- Reach Out to Your IT Team: Let them know you want to set up SSO for our app. Decide if you’d like to have SAML and SCIM set up for your org.
- Share Integration Documentation: Your IT can refer to the WorkOS documentation to understand the details of implementing their IdP.
- Get your setup link: When you’re ready to go, contact Reforge to get the set up portal link for your org. (This is an example of the portal)
- Configure Your IdP: Your IT team will configure your IdP to connect with our app using the instructions provided.
- Turn on SSO: Once the configuration is complete, let Reforge know and we’ll turn on single sign on for your team.
